The 80 / 20 Rule

You work hard, you play hard, and man oh man – you’re still feeling tired, and those final pounds (or the first pounds!) just won’t shift. Why is that when you’re at the gym 7 days a week?

It’s called the 80% Rule.  80% of weight loss is as a result of better nutrition. Is the gym important? You bet! You need to maintain the lean muscle mass so you can remain independent as long as possible. To do that you need protein, and physical activity.

What was that? You’re only 30 years old you say? You don’t need to be concerned? Well that’s the age when your body starts to lose one percent of its muscle mass every year – just due to aging.  So if you are doing nothing, by age 60 you will have lost 30% of your muscle mass, and by age 80, 50%.

That’s called “Sarcopenia” or muscle loss due to aging. And it can be stopped…even reversed. By a diet with more than sufficient protein (good protein – totally absorbed and utilized by the body like the Gold Standard, the egg…or a pure whey isolate like Jenna’s Clearly Protein). And, with a small to moderate amount of exercise.
